Hey, I had a good chat on this subject with the team. I prepared a questionnaire to better understand the different needs behind this request.
Could you try answering those?

I will improve this questionnaire and my request to the team with your feedback!

@Jenny I have used the notes, but it’s rather cumbersome and duplicative to click on a med and then go to notes and again type that you’ve taken a med. It would be much more efficient (and matches what other top headache trackers have done for years) to click on the med and then click on a clock for the time the med was taken with an option to edit the date/time.

Hopefully when entering the date/time there, it would feed correctly to the MIDAS report for multi day headaches, instead of putting all medications on the first day.

@Jenny I agree with @Smwhitmer and this is the exact reason I came to make a suggestion. It is cumbersome to use the notes page to track the meds. I need to know what time i took a medicine, how long it took to begin working, what time I take more doses, and the time of their effectiveness. (For what is worth, I’ve never once used the timer to remind me to take another dose - my headache is my timer) There, at least, need to be timestamps as part of the meds button. Also timestamps for the effectiveness scale and these should be easily graphable so i can see what’s working for my different headaches. Thank you!

@E.fillmore9 check out migraine insights app. I just discovered it. it has timestamps for meds, symptoms, triggers, pain level, etc. It also is supposed to sync to trackers to pull in sleep, activity, steps, although they told me that’s still a bit buggy and is still being worked on. They are also adding a “during sleep” option for migraine start & stop. Then it uses AI to determine triggers. I’ve only been using it for a few days, but it seems much faster/easier to log.

Ive tried using the MIDAS report in migraine buddy to log migraines & meds but no way to timestamp or indicate multiple doses per day. And the report doesn’t show on which days you take which meds.

As a Dr myself, the timestamp isnt super important except for knowing multiple doses and ensuring appropriate dosing. If the MIDAS report here would allow for indicating multiple doses in 1 day and would put which meds on which days instead of just aggregate, it would be much better. Highest pain level is also important!

good luck!

I just started using this application as a trial. My headaches usually come on during sleep and I don’t normally feel like getting up to take a medication such as the headache wakes me at 2:00 am and even with a severe headache, I’m too tired to properly function to get up. I’ll cat nap until I finally force myself to get up. This can be a short time like a half hour to hours. So the headache could be happening for hours before I take anything and how long the medication takes to work could be off substantially because it assumes it’s taken on the onsight of the headache. For instance, a headache starting at 2:00 am and ending around 9:00 am may only have had medication taken for 4 hours, not 7 hours. I also have found that caffeine along with my medication seems to make it more effective. After years of this, I can sleep after taking caffeine in the form of cold coffee, but I suspect its not good sleep, so I delay taking migraine medication, hoping to get more sleep. Lastly, I take a medication that suggests it works better if nothing is taken a half hour before or after, so since most headaches wake me, the half hour delay is after, so logging my medication is at least a half hour after I get up. Having a simple way to put the time in when choosing a medicine rather than trying to use notes which is cumbersome would be better for me and my neurologist. For me this is a deal breaker. I have a separate application that tracks medication, and I need this in one place so I can share it with my neurologist.

It would be super helpful if the migraine days were auto-calculated more accurately. Currently when I look back at the report for a migraine that lasted multiple days, though I input medications each day in the ‘medications’ tab as I took them, it only shows 1 medication day. It’s hard to remember to go back and update them and is not intuitive - when I go to the calendar to add medication days, it will ask me to specify which meds were taken each day, but that doesn’t seem to input into the report itself from the migraine. There appear to be 2 separate mechanisms for tracking med days and they should be combined + streamlined if possible.

Thank you all for your suggestions, the team is definitely looking into it. We are still a small team, so it might take some time but we’re definitely hearing you!
Please keep posting suggestions on how you’d like this feature to behave as it will help us in designing it!
Thanks for your support,
Wishing you all a lovely, migraine-free day!

To Jenny, & All @ My Migraine Buddy,

Reading over just a few of the issues others encounter when attempting to log their migraine attacks/ times/ medications taken… I greatly appreciate this Migraine Buddy App :-))❣️❣️.
All @ My Migraine Buddy are doing a phenomenal job! Without this App, I would not be able to send my Neurologist personalized reports. All the other issues raised are important.. And you will continue to listen- & work out the “kinks”. T/U for all you do!!
